What You Can Do In A Week In Sheffield

If you’re to think of a ‘city break’ here in the UK, you might instantly think of London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Liverpool or Newcastle? But what about Sheffield? Sheffield has amazing food in abundance, a bar and nightclub scene that’s up there with the best in the UK, and a never-ending list of things to do catering for all types of people.

A new survey by TripAdvisor, stated that Sheffield is the place to head for the best-value UK city break. I thought I’d produce a day-to-day breakdown of what a couple’s city break here in Sheffield could involve.

Monday

If you’re wanting to stay somewhere luxurious, then you’d make sure you chose one of our serviced apartments. They offer spacious, comfortable and homely accommodation and therefore offer a cutting edge over standard hotel accommodation at an affordable price. The city centre locations that are on offer couldn’t be more central or closer to all that Sheffield offers. So, if you’re wanting to see the availability of these serviced apartments, click the following link, https://www.citycrashpad.com/, and don’t be afraid to contact us regarding any enquiries you may have. Start your week by taking a walk through the city and have a look at all the shops, before heading to The Head of Steam for some amazing pub food, found on their newly revamped menu, http://www.theheadofsteam.co.uk/. Make the most of the entertainment that the city has to offer, by walking down the road to the Lyceum Theatre where you can catch a show that will have received incredible reviews, https://www.sheffieldtheatres.co.uk/whats-on. The friendly atmosphere of The Head of Steam will make a perfect setting for an evening of cocktails or some of the finest pale ales and craft beer in Yorkshire.

Tuesday

Now I’m sure you’d want to get up bright and early, because you’d want to make the most of your day, right? Well in that case, you could head up to the historical Cholera Monument landmark on the hill behind the railway station to watch the sun rise over the city. You could then head to the Winter Gardens, a calming respite from the busy shopping streets. It’s located next door to the Millennium Galleries, too, so you can go from an indoor oasis into an art gallery with just a few steps. Another photo opportunity coming up now, by heading to the Peace Gardens for photos by the fountains. I can assure you that they’ll be worthy of Instagram! Now for food, Sheffield has such a diverse food selection, it really depends on what you fancy. But why not head to Piccolino for an authentic Italian meal, http://individualrestaurants.com/autumn-at-piccolino/, where you can chose food of their new Autumn menu? From here, you could head over to The Great Gatsby for drinks to see the night in, a perfect place for a couple to share a few drinks, http://www.thegatsbybar.co.uk/.

Wednesday

For a breakfast you’ll spend the rest of the day thinking about, Tamper Sellers Wheel is definitely a favourite amongst the city, meaning this New Zealand eatery is where you’ll want to spend the morning, https://tampercoffee.co.uk/. You can then spend the day walking through two of many Sheffield city parks. The Botanical Gardens are the first stop, taking a look at plants and flowers from around the world, formal gardens and large glasshouses. And then why not stroll round Endcliffe park, surrounding yourself in one of many green areas that the city has to offer, there are 80 public parks and 650 other green and open spaces after all. All of this walking will be building up your appetite, so stop by Bungalows and Bears for chicken wings and beers, and I chose this night because it’s wings and beers night, https://www.bungalowsandbears.com/! So not only are you getting some tasty food, but you’re getting it at a fraction of the price you’d usually have to pay. For more of a ‘night out’ type night, Bierkeller Sheffield is a great place to sing along to some classic songs, in a great surrounding with more great people. Oh yeah, and don’t forget about the steins of beer! You won’t have to worry about getting back to your serviced apartment either, because Bierkeller is situated just 2 minutes up the road from where you could be staying. I told you that they’re central!

Thursday

Have you ever played a real-life escape game? Well there’s plenty of them to choose from in Sheffield. See if you and your partner, friend or family member have what it takes to make it out in time. It’s something different and it’s bound to make you both laugh, even once you’re finished you’ll be talking about it for weeks! After all the cocktails, beer and wine you’ll have been drinking so far this week, you can have a night off! It means missing out on some more great pubs and bars, but why not take it easy at one of the many cinemas scattered around the city centre? The Light Cinema Experience is Sheffield’s newest cinema and offers the biggest blockbusters currently on the big screen, all whilst surrounded by mouth-wateringly good restaurants, including The Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Zizzi’s and Nando’s. You can then stroll back down The Moor, looking at the city centre lit up at night, before heading back to your accommodation. Spend your night relaxing in front of the TV with your feet up, in your homely apartment.

Friday

Today’s the day you go to Meadowhall. Can’t save it for tomorrow else it’ll be super busy, I know that from experience! It’s the largest shopping centre in Yorkshire, and is the home to 230 stores, ranging from international brands to top independent stores. The Oasis dining quarter is home to many restaurants, meaning you can have some great food before you head back to the city centre. Once you’re back in the city centre, Be At One Sheffield will be waiting for you, http://www.beatone.co.uk/cocktail-bar/sheffield.  2-4-1 cocktails is a favourite amongst locals and students in the city alike. There’s such a wide selection to choose from, and the staff will help you pick the one most suitable for you! From here, there’s a short walk to many other bars on West Street and the many bars in the surrounding area.

Saturday

For breakfast today, you can treat yourself to one of the best breakfast eateries in the city centre, the quirky Steam Yard on Division Street, known for their amazing independent coffee and friendly atmosphere, http://steamyard.co.uk/. Make sure you get there early to ensure you don’t miss out on their delicious brownies. From here you can walk to many of Sheffield’s Museums, such as Kelham Island Museum, or even Weston Park Museum. If this isn’t for you, then there are galleries throughout the city, all there for your enjoyment. The evening can be spent at Sheffield City Hall, whether it’s music, comedy, or shows that you’re into, Sheffield City Hall has it all, offering a wide array of entertainment. Are you into your spic food? Then why not go to one of Sheffield’s finest Indian restaurants, Aagrah’s, http://www.aagrah.com/restaurants/sheffield/. This restaurant is situated right in the beautiful Leopold Square, meaning you can treat yourself to something spicy in a perfect environment. From here it’s just a short walk to the bars, but I’m sure you’ll know your way around now. Whether it’s a pub atmosphere you want, a quiet bar or a lively bar, there’s still so many places that you could choose from.

Sunday

This incredible week had to come to an end at some point, and sadly today’s the day. There’s still time to get up and have lunch one last time before it’s time to leave, so why not try Bill’s Restaurant by the beautiful Peace Gardens for some brunch, https://bills-website.co.uk/? Or you could always return to one of the incredible places you’re already eaten at this week?

As you’ve just read, there’s so much to do and enjoy here in Sheffield, and there’s still so much more that I couldn’t squeeze into one week. That means you’ll have to make time to come back and do everything else too, whether it’s with your partner, family or friends. Sticking to a schedule could be almost impossible here, so one of the best pieces of advice I can give you is to just go and have fun. Embrace all that the Steel City has to offer, and I can promise you that you won’t regret it.
